If Shakespeare was writing this article, he would probably open it with the line – “to buy or not to buy an existing internet business, that’s the question”

Well, if you have some money to invest, you may consider buying an existing internet business rather than buying one from scratch. Of course there are pros and cons to this idea which we are going to explore.

1. One of the nicest things about purchasing an existing business is much of the groundwork has already been done for you. You will have an existing website, graphics, domain name, email address, and possibly even a blog already set up.

2. You will be able to just focus on generating traffic which is one of the most important skills in internet marketing as the core business is already running. You need to understand upfront that existing website does not guarantee you traffic. Even if it’s already generating traffic, you must continue generating traffic otherwise; you may be left with not customers in future.

3. An existing internet business will also give you a head start in terms of page rank, back links, traffic rank and a customer base. In fact the business may make you profit in no time at all if it’s a quality internet business.

4. An existing internet business may already have a strong brand which you may ride on so to speak. You may consider putting your picture in some web pages.

6. Join a discussion forum of the business you are considering buying. You will get useful replies and sometimes ideas for other possible internet businesses to buy which could turn out to be even more profitable. These are a couple of things for you to think about as you consider buying an existing internet business, of course if you choose to go it the start-from-scratch way, then by all means do it. Just remember that some people have found it lucrative to buy an internet business.

Irrespective of what strategy you choose, you should be able to determine what it is costing you in times of time and money and tracking all those factors. What is your one hour worth? If you find it is worth $100 or more, then, it doesn’t make sense spending one hour writing an article when you can outsource the same job for $10 for the same amount of time. Or it could be the other way around also.

Keep track of expenses from domain hosting, auto responders, pay per click, advertising and so on. By keeping track of your time and financial expense, you can then have a monthly picture of what you are spending compared to what is coming in.  Remember, the same principles in the brick and mortar business also do apply in an internet marketing business.

Happy new year! I really hope you are smiling. If not, my sympathy to you and hoping that things will get better as the year rolls by. The most important thing is being alive. The moment you keep breathing, then anything can get better with time.

Now, to make it big in 2009, you need lots of action. But there is a catch. You have to beat procrastination. The best way to do that is to get cured from a disease called “I will do it tomorrow” and start drinking from the cup of “I will do it now”

YOU MUST DO SOMETHING EVERY SINGLE DAY TOWARDS ACCOMPLISHING YOUR GOAL.

It doesn’t matter how big or how small this effort has to be.  It just has to be SOMETHING.  So every day that passes in your life you will incrementally be closer to getting everything you want.  It’s a simple, yet powerful concept.

If you want to lose weight, for example, then just walk 1/2 mile each day.  Not a mile.  Not 5 miles.  1/2 mile.  If you walk 1/2 mile each day that’s like walking 3.5 miles a week.  Walking 3.5 miles seems pretty far to most people.  But 1/2 mile is nothing.  Yet you get the same net result from walking 3.5 miles whether you accomplish it in one day or one week.

Almost anything worth accomplishing in life seems BIG when we look at it from “Step 1.”  Everything requires incremental progress.  And most things require MANY steps to reach the finish line.  

We’ve heard it many times expressed in different ways “one by one makes a bundle” , “a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step”
